Event Information
Description
*Exact location details will be provided upon booking.
Always wanted to write a book but never had the time or the confidence to start it? Maybe you’ve started several, only to peter out half way through. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to write a book – but you can’t think of anything to write about …
Barnes Class is thrilled to bring you a creative writing course from best-selling and critically acclaimed novelist, author and journalist, Daisy Waugh.
No matter where you are on the journey, with eight published novels under her belt, she's likely to have been there before - and developed a system for pushing through. Her four-part writing course can help you to do the same - maybe even to reach the finishing line. The course is divided into four 2-hour sessions held on Friday afternoons:
- JAN 19TH BREAKING THROUGH THE BLOCK - Working out what it is you really want to write, why you want to write it, and who you want to write it for.
- JAN 26TH CREATING CHARACTERS - How to create characters you can believe in and care about.
- FEB 2ND BUILDING PLOT - How to structure a narrative. (And why you should never start writing without a clear middle and end in sight.)
- FEB 9TH ESTABLISHING A SUSTAINABLE STYLE - How to keep the reader reading...
Using the techniques Daisy has learned through years of practise, you will work together on these four essential aspects of novel writing so that, by the end of the course, you should at last have the framework and the mindset required to get cracking on that damn book.
