Join Solent's Student Union Law Society for a guest lecture delivered by Baroness Shami Chakrabarti.

From Lawyer to member of the House of Lords, Shami's career has seen her play an active role in supporting the rights of women internationally. With the environment in which the legal and political sectors operate in rapidly changing, Shami continues this work through her current role of Shadow Attorney General and member of the House of Lords.

This evening guest lecture will explore the case for radical, positive action in every aspect of life to support the rights of women, worldwide. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments and network with guests.

About Shami Chakrabarti

Shami Chakrabarti is the Shadow Attorney General and a member of the House of Lords.

She was previously the Director of Liberty, the National Council for Civil Liberties from 2003 to 2016, and a member of the panel of the Leveson Inquiry, the judicial inquiry into UK phone hacking in 2011.

Called to the Bar in 1994, she worked as a lawyer in the Home Office from 1996 until 2001 for Governments of both persuasions.
