BARS Digital: Romantic Creativity Workshop
Overview
Following in the footsteps of the "Romantic Creativity" Roundtable, this digital event will work as a creative writing workshop that reflects critically on key ideas delivered by the six speakers from the previous session. The idea at the heart of this event is that creativity responds to a plethora of interesting notions. Writing prompts will be used to stimulate both imagination and fancy as audience members are asked to think (and write) about Romanticism as well as concepts derived from the creative roundtable. Possible topics for writing and reflection include but are not limited to:
* spiritual poetics
* poetic form
* transcendence in literature and transcendent authors
* the poetics of gender and affect
* inspiration
* time and 'warm data'
* "misreading" poetry, the Romantic Ridiculous and the Romantic canon
Ample time will be given so that all audience members can try to develop something in a style of their choice, be it prose, poetry, or even visual art. You will be encouraged to share your work but it is not a requirement. We would love for you to come along and jump in with us!
This workshop will be led by Dr. Adam Neikirk.
