Basic Awareness of Paediatric First Aid

About this event
This short one-off online course will provide learners with the knowledge and basic lifesaving skills needed to assess and respond to a child or infant that is unresponsive and not breathing. The skills will include how to deliver cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a child and baby and how to access and use a defibrillator. Learners will also be able to recognise and treat choking.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Demonstrate how to perform a primary survey.
- Demonstrate the correct technique for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for a child and baby.
- Discuss how to access and use a defibrillator.
- Recognise and respond to choking.
- Access apps, websites for further learning.
- Identify appropriate progression opportunities.
Sessions are delivered online and are one-off 2½ hour sessions with opportunities to progress and develop your skills and knowledge further. You will be expected to attend the session online via Teams/Zoom, participate in discussions, activities and group tasks, along with any independent research activities.

Please be aware the College is only able to offer this course/event at the rate publicised on our website if you are aged 19+ or over on 31st August 2021 and have a home address which is in England and outside of the devolved authority areas of: Cambridge and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
