Basic Leatherworking: Tool Pouch
Wed, January 25, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM GMT
A three week evening course in which you’ll learn to make a leather tool pouch for your own beloved tools or stationery. Mia Sabel and Colin Coutts from SABEL Saddlery will teach you the very basics of traditional saddlery, including leather preparation, hand-cutting, double hand-stitching and hand-burnishing. Over the course of the 3 evenings, you’ll test out these techniques, preparing, cutting, stitch-marking and hand-stitching to create your own tool pouch, with the optional branded Blackhorse Workshop logo.
This course is perfect for anyone interested in learning to working with leather, and after the course, we will provide you with a list of suppliers, further training courses and the basic equipment you’ll need to get you started.
Suitable for those who have already completed our Introductory Leatherwork course or have prior experience of leather hand-stitching.
Haven’t done this yet? Then book into our Intro session running on the 18th Jan. Click here for more details.
Following a successful career in brand, design and theatre, Mia Sabel left her job in the City to retrain as a Saddler. Mia now uses traditional saddlery techniques and materials to create a range of classic leather products: hand-made, hand-stitched and hand-finished in her Walthamstow workshop. www.sabelsaddlery.co.uk
