If you are about to do some renovations or just want to add to your skill set join David for a skills class and learn the techniques and tools of plasterboard construction. Becoming a good plasterer requires a lot of skill and many months of practice some plasterers would say years. It not just knowing how to put the material on the wall, it's knowing when, how thick, the right mix, how quick and this usually changes every job as it depends on the suction of the wall, the temperature, what type of wall you are plastering and the list goes on but it doesn't need to be this complicated.

The main reason people plaster over plasterboard which always struck me as a bit odd, is to give better durability to the wall. Skimming the wall creates a polished hard surface resistant to knocks however many countries around the world only render and plaster over blockwork using plasterboard or drywall as the Americans' call it for internal walls on studwork. That way the plastering is done for you and all you need to do is finish the joints and paint. For most homeowners this is more than good enough as a finished wall without the added expense of hiring a plasterer. It's pretty hard wearing, you can paint it, repairing any damage is easy and all of this you can do yourself with a few skills and a little confidence.

So if you are knocking down some walls, putting up some walls, opening up doorways or just want to cover up an unsightly wall yourself, this class is designed for you.
