Event description

Description

Both the Public Health Team at Cheshire East Council and Emotionally Healthy Schools Links Team are delivering Basic Suicide Prevention Training to High Schools/Alternative Provisions and Colleges in Cheshire East.

We are pleased to offer you two places for your staff to attend the free half day training session.

Basic Suicide Prevention Training for Community Gatekeepers

At the end of the training it is anticipated that delegates will:

1. Be able to identify signs

2. Be able to recognise risk and identify key risk factors

3. Have increased confidence to ask direct questions about suicide

4. Be able to list key support services for people who feel suicidal

5. Be able to take appropriate action to support vulnerable people

The Local Authority Directors of Public Health in Cheshire and Merseyside, alongside Public Health England and NHS England, have chosen Suicide Prevention as a key priority for collective action across the region. Suicide is a major social and public health issue. It is a cause of early death and increased mortality rates, and is seen as an indicator of underlying rates of mental ill-health. The impact on family and friends can be devastating and it carries a huge financial burden for the local economy and contributes to worsening inequalities.
