Description

What is this Event About?

A “resource matching” workshop brings together businesses with a common goal in mind – to save money by improving the way they manage resources and waste materials. The unique BASIS event aims to enable businesses to identify new opportunities between delegates at the event through the matching of resources, including waste, logistics and expertise. Through BASIS, companies can achieve substantial cost savings, generate sales from new markets and contribute towards creating an environmentally sustainable economy. The BASIS team will facilitate a lively and interactive session that will allow companies to exchange details about waste streams they ‘have’ on-site or ‘want’ as a resource. Remember to bring details of resources you wish to share or discuss on the day.

Who Should Attend?

If you are an SME in the Birmingham & Solihull area and would like to lower costs, increase sales and build business contacts with other companies then you should sign up for this FREE workshop.

What is BASIS?

The Birmingham and Solihull Industrial Symbiosis Project, or BASIS, aims to create a diverse network of businesses across the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), with the aim of supporting their journey into becoming more resource efficient and cost-effective businesses. The BASIS Project provides FREE support to local businesses in many areas:

  • Industrial symbiosis brings together companies from all market sectors with the aim of improving business resource efficiency by finding better uses for resources, by-products and wastes.
  • Conducting compliance, waste, water and energy audits
  • Providing consultancy support for the implementation of environmental management systems
  • Increasing staff knowledge and confidence in environmental issues and management
  • Signposting to grants to financially aid the implementation of capital improvements
  • Supporting applications for waste permits, licenses and exemptions from the Environment Agency and Local Authority

Improving resource efficiency is common sense for business. Increasing waste disposal costs and growing public awareness of environmental issues means that incentives have never been greater for companies to find better ways to manage their wastes and underutilised resources.
