What age range is this event suitable for?

Activities are aimed at ages 8+, however, younger children can attend. Crafts and games are included in the children's ticket price.  The bat walk, moth trap, quizzes, trail and hot drinks are for all attendees.

Why are the adult/child tickets priced differently?

The adult ticket includes entry to the event, the bat walk, moth trapping and refreshments. The child’s ticket also includes the crafts and they are more likely to play the games.

What is expected of parents/carers?

Hive staff will lead the events, explain activities, introduce rules, and assist all children where they can. However, carers will be expected to support their children with the practicalities and help enforce rules. It is the joint responsibility of all adults to keep the group safe.

How accessible is the event?

This event will take place entirely on our grounds, which are wheelchair and buggy accessible. We also have accessible toilets. Please let us know if you have any additional requirements so we can ensure we offer you the best service possible.

Is there parking?

We have very limited parking, which is why the event is limited to 10 cars. If you are attending with a friend, perhaps you can car share?

Are there toilets/baby-change/hand washing facilities?

Toilets and handwashing are available on site, but activities are often run in the forest so recommend all visitors arrive 15 minutes before the start to allow time to use facilities.

Is there a café ?

There is no café on site but we are offering complimentary hot drinks and biscuits. However, there are several options nearby for a full meal. The closest indoor eatery is The Owl pub, at Lippits Hill (family-friendly).

When should we arrive?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the event so we can check you in, lend you welly boots if required, and you can use the toilet.

What if I need to cancel?

If you cancel with more than 7 days’ notice., we can arrange a refund (minus the booking fee) or exchange event (subject to availability). Please note, if you cancel within 7 days of the event, you will be charged in full as we may not be able to fill your place. Thank you for understanding.

How many adults can accompany their children? Can adults come alone?

This is a family-friendly event but is also suitable for adults without children. Please book the number of adult/child tickets you require.

Does The Hive cancel in adverse weather conditions?

Accepted Answer

Our events will run in almost all weathers - Please make sure that you check the forecast and dress appropriately. In very high winds we may need to postpone the event for safety reasons but you would be offered the new date, a refund or an exchange event.
