About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

As the sun sets over The Secret Campsite some of Britain's most amazing animals emerge and take to the skies. But how much do you know about these incredible and mysterious creatures?

We'll start the evening around the fireside (weather permitting!) with a hot drink and cake and listen to Sussex naturalist Michael Blencowe give an illustrated talk about our bats. Learn all about their lives, their unbelievable echolocation, the different species found in Sussex and the folklore that surrounds these often misunderstood animals.

Then, as dusk falls, we'll head off into the woodlands armed with special bat detectors that will allow us to tune into the bat's nocturnal world allowing us to hear them as they hunt overhead.

We'll also look and listen out for owls, badgers and other nocturnal wildlife and aim to back at campsite HQ for 8:45/9pm

Full details will be emailed to you nearer to the event.

Michael Blencowe has been leading wildlife events in Sussex for over 15 years and works closely with The Secret Campsite creating inspiring and immersive nature experiences. More details and events at michaelblencowe.com.
