Event Details
- Join us for a family-friendly bat hunt nature walk at Bennerley Viaduct
- Enjoy a simple structured walk and fun activities for 0.5 miles under the viaduct
- Due to the nature of this event the time may restrict younger participants but attend on your own accord.
- Events are free, but a suggested donation of £3 is appreciated. This will be split between Friends of Bennerley Viaduct & Derbyshire Bat Conservation Group.
Disclaimer: Our volunteers put lots of hard work into running these events, if you can no longer commit to your booking, please cancel your order so the spaces can be released to others wishing to partake.
How to get here: DO NOT FOLLOW THE POSTCODE. It is provided to help you find the area, but the viaduct has no postcode.
Special extra parking is provided in a compound underneath the viaduct. Access via Newton's Lane off Awsworth Road (what3words reference: ///played.reds.whites). If you are coming from Nottingham (A6096, Shilo Way) turn RIGHT onto Newton's Lane then turn RIGHT again just before the railway bridge. If you are coming from Ilkeston, it is your first LEFT after the railway bridge. It can be tricky navigating this road as digital map systems show Newton's Lane as Awsworth Road, we highly recommend using what3words for your journey. The gate to the lane will be open. Drive down the tarmac lane until you arrive underneath the viaduct. Volunteers will be on hand to direct parking. If you are walking to us, cross the Erewash canal through the woodland track, cross the railway footbridge and follow the path to the compound.
More directions can be found here: Vist Us
If you are coming by train, directions from Ilkeston station via Google maps can be found here.
