Join bat expert Sarah Butcher for this DWT event at Exeter Quay. You might be surprised to find that several bat species enjoy the environs of the city's quay area - join us to find out how may we encounter during this walk and talk event.
We will meet near Devon Wildlife Trust's HQ at Cricklepit Mill as dusk approaches. Sarah will introduce us to the world of bats and show us how to use the bat detectors. We will then be ready to detect the bats as they start to emerge from their roosts at dusk, and begin to forage. Although fast, we are also likely to see them whizzing past.
This is an evening event and some routes may take us over uneven ground - please wear sturdy footwear and bring a torch if you can. Older children (12+) are welcome if accompanied by an adult, but sorry, no dogs allowed (excepting assistance dogs). There are public toilets on the quay.
