About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join our Ranger-led walk around Threave Nature Reserve as dark begins to fall - using hand-held heterodyne bat detectors to pick up echolocation from some of the eight species of bats we have at Threave, Scotland's first bat reserve.

Please wear appropriate footwear for woodland paths, and warm, waterproof clothing - temperatures can drop signifcantly after dark. Hand or head torches are also a good idea. There are toilets on site.

Meet at Threave Nature Reserve Information Centre, opposite the car park (off A75 outside Castle Douglas, follow signs for Threave Castle).

Please note we may have to cancel this event if weather conditions are unsuitable for bat activity. In the event of a cancellation, all tickets will be refunded. Cancellation notice will be sent by email to the address you have registered with Eventbrite as soon as possible before the event start time, please check before you leave.

All enquiries please email ThreaveNature@nts.org.uk and we'll be happy to help.
