Bat walks are guided walks around a site to listen for, see and identify bats in flight – they are always popular with all ages and cultures, and are a powerful tool to help raise local awareness of all kinds of wildlife, not just bats.
However, how do you plan, organise and run a guided bat walk, and what techniques and equipment do you need in order to make it a popular and successful event for everybody?
Join Dr Iain Boulton, an experienced bat walk leader, who will guide you through how to organise, lead and promote your own bat walks, and how to ensure they are fun, educational, safe and accessible to all. You’ll learn to how apply a range of techniques, and use equipment to listen for and find bats, including bat detectors, as well as how to identify individual bat species and record your findings. Equipment and useful guides or handouts will be provided.
