About this event

  • 2 hours

Join members of Bath Women's Fund for a potluck picnic in the Lonsdale Room at BRLSI, Bath's cultural hub, looking out over Queen Square and featuring a cast of a Plesiosaur on the wall.

Since 1824, BRLSI has been sharing science, literature and art with the Bath community, including raising awareness of women who have lived in or visited the city through the 'Bath's Extraordinary Women' guide and exhibition. Learn more about BRLSI's history and collection, this special bicentenary year of celebration, events and opportunities to get involved.

We will have an opportunity to explore The World Revealed exhibition after hours featuring key people and events in two centuries of history. Many objects are on show for the first time in living memory and you will be able to see 1850s photographs of the city of Bath, Jurassic fossils collected by the famous Mary Anning and a Romano-British brooch from the first century AD excavated in Lansdown.

Please bring a plate or a bottle of whatever you would like to share - savoury or sweet, but you are welcome to bring your own food if you prefer not to eat from shared dishes.

We will also have an update on the grant programme for Bath Women's Fund in 2024, looking ahead to our Grants Award Evening in June.

Access: The first floor rooms and toilet facilities have step-free access via a lift. Parking at Charlotte Street Car Park with electric vehicle chargers. Blue Badge permit holders spaces in adjoining streets. Short walk or wheel from Bath train/bus stations.

We look forward to welcoming you all!

Bath Women’s Fund celebrates women’s philanthropy and the inspiring local people and organisations that empower and support women, girls and families. We give collectively to achieve a greater impact – each member donates £25 per month (or £20 plus Gift Aid), or more if they wish.

Together, we decide each year on a theme for grant making, learn about the issues involved and then decide how the funds will be allocated to make the biggest impact.

Bath Women's Fund members have now made grants of £77,500 since 2020 when we awarded our first ever main grant of £10,000 to Mentoring Plus for their Inspiring Girls project. In 2021, our main grant of £15,000 to The Women's Work Lab supported a programme in Bath to support women into meaningful employment. The 2022 main grant of £15,000 was awarded to SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support) and in 2023 to the Black Families Education Support Group.

This is a great time to join Bath Women's Fund as all members will be involved in our 2024 grant programme. Details of how to join on www.bathwomensfund.org.uk or email info@bathwomensfund.org.uk
