Batik - Batik is an ancient method that uses hot wax and dyes to create beautiful art work.

Selected areas of the material are blocked out by using a tjanting tool with a funnel for the wax to escape in a line, by brushing or drawing hot wax over the cloth. The parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original colour. This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated to create simple or more elaborate and colourful designs. After the final dyeing the wax is removed by ironing between papers.
