Step back in time and onto history. As part of Liverpool’s commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, this open-air event invites everyone to experience the wartime heritage of RAF Speke — the city’s historic airfield that played a vital role in defending Britain during WWII.
Highlights include:
- Outdoor exhibition telling the story of the Battle of Britain and Liverpool’s wartime skies
- Wartime display featuring period vehicles, equipment, and re-enactors in authentic uniforms
- The rare opportunity to walk on part of the original Speke runway — where in 1940, Hurricanes of No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Squadron took off to defend Merseyside, and where the famous “Fastest Victory” intercept began
- Family-friendly atmosphere with chances to talk to living history interpreters and explore up close the sights, sounds, and stories of the era
Whether you have five minutes or two hours, this is your chance to stand where history happened and connect with the courage of “The Few” in a way no museum can match.
Free entry – all welcome.
