There are lots of exciting races for everyone to take part in at the Loch Ness Festival of Running. Choose from the Wee Nessie Run, River Ness 5K Fun Run, 10K and the 10K Corporate Challenge. Last year we had over 70 runners take part in the Festival of Running, sign up now to join our JDRF Loch Ness Team in 2016! Whatever race you run, run to support type 1 diabetes research.
Loch Ness Marathon
This memorable marathon begins on the shores of the atmospheric Loch Ness and continues through breathtaking scenery, taking you along the south-eastern shores, across the River Ness and into the centre of Inverness, capital city of the Highlands. You will be greeted by a hot meal at the finish line and be able to soak up the amazing atmosphere of the festival as you watch the other competitors cross the finish line.
Wee Nessie Run
The Wee Nessie Run is open to pre-school children aged five and under, as a fun addition to the Baxters Festival of Running. This is a simple and short (approx 400 metres) circular route in the enclosed Bught Park that is safe for kids. It allows the children to walk, jog or run at their own pace. Future running stars in the making.
River Ness 5K Fun Run
This run features incredible scenery, starting off your run in Bught Park and crossing over the river through a lovely wooded area and towards the city centre, cutting back over the river along the banks of the River Ness following a flat route. Whatever your level of fitness, goals and aspirations, this is the perfect race for you.
As a fantastic alternative to the 5K or Marathon, this flat route winds through the historic Highland capital of Inverness, passing the Castle along the beautiful banks of the River Ness. This distance is ideal for those looking to step up from a 5K or en route to a half marathon or longer distance.
10K Corporate Challenge
Get a team of four to six runners together from your work to raise money for JDRF. This challenge is open to all sectors of business and industry in the public and private sector. It’s a fantastic team-building opportunity as well as competing for the Corporate Challenge Trophy. The times of the fastest four runners in your team are combined to make the team’s final score, so competitive colleagues have every incentive to train and encourage each other to achieve their potential.
JDRF can only offer a guaranteed place in the marathon. For all other races all you need to do is visit the Loch Ness Marathon’s webpage, sign up and enter the race you wish to run.
