Event description

Description

BBC Radio 4’s flagship political debate programme Any Questions? will be broadcast live from Aston University’s brand new Students’ Union building on Friday 24 May 2019.

The panel discussion programme, chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby with a panel of four guest speakers, provides the opportunity for people to challenge politicians, policy makers, writers and thinkers with questions about political, economic, social and moral issues of the day. First broadcast in 1948, it attracts up to 1.5 million listeners every week.

This is your chance to be part of the live audience, ask a question and influence the debate. Admission is free of charge, but places are limited and you must register in advance. You must have a ticket to gain entry to the event and be part of the audience. Everybody over the age of 14 is welcome.

The questions

The quality of the questions that members of the audience ask is crucial to the success of the programme. The BBC looks for questions on the most stimulating moral, political and social issues of the day — the current issues that will get people talking. Questions are submitted on the night, and people can submit questions on any topic they like.

Questions are to be submitted in the Any Questions? box at the venue on the night and there is no limit on the numbers of questions each person can put in. Questions cannot be put by proxy; each questioner must be present in the hall for their question to be included. If your question is selected you must be prepared to ask the question yourself live on air.

The programme strives to achieve a varied choice of subjects from week to week, while keeping an eye on the week’s news agenda, and we cannot guarantee what subjects will be covered. As the programme broadcasts to a UK-wide audience, the producers will not select questions on purely local issues unless they raise matters of genuine national interest.
