Course Tutor: Paul Johnson MCSP, MSc (BBTA Bobath Tutor)
This BBTA workshop will seek to develop participants application of the Bobath Concept to assessment and treatment of the trunk with particular reference to the promotion of upper limb recovery. This will include current considerations of core stability, scapulothoracic control and their relationship with upper limb reach, grasp and manipulation.
The workshop will use lectures, patient demonstrations and practical sessions in order to develop participants’ clinical reasoning based on an understanding of movement control. It will also aim to improve specificity of observation and handling skills in order to promote functional recovery. It is aimed at Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists who have completed the Basic Bobath course but will also be of value to those therapists who have completed one of more introductory modules or who currently use the Bobath Concept in clinical practice.
