The BCI NSW Forum team invite you to join us for the next members meeting and networking drinks in Sydney on Tuesday 15th May from 4pm to 6.30pm, hosted by DLA Piper. DLA Piper will share their experience of the NotPetya malware attack that affected the firm globally in June 2017. The Business Continuity Institute’s Manifesto for Organizational Resilience will also be launched at this exciting event, as part of the Business Continuity Awareness Week 2018 initiative.


Presentation and overview

Dylan James, Head of Information Technology, Australia and Amber Matthews, General Counsel, EMEA & Asia-Pacific will give an overview of how the firm responded to the NotPetya malware attack that affected the firm globally in June 2017, including:

  • Impact of the attack to its business operations
  • Local and global response
  • Short and long-term recovery objectives
  • Lessons learned


Manifesto for Organizational Resilience presentation and overview

A short video from David Thorp, Executive Director of the BCI will introduce the manifesto from a strategic perspective. A member of our team will then delve deeper into the paper and you will be given the chance to ask questions about the paper and the strategic goals.

SAI Global and Strategic BCP presentation and overview

As sponsors of the BCAW 2018 campaign, SAI Global and Strategic BCP in partnership will be offering insight into why business continuity is vital to them and specifically, why ‘working together to improve organizational resilience’ is an initiative they became involved with.

Bios:

Dylan James is Head of Information Technology in Australia for global law firm DLA Piper. He leads a large regional team in managing and supporting the global IT environment for DLA Piper, which includes over 85 offices across more than 40 countries. Dylan has a Master of Business and Technology, and more than 23 years’ experience in legal technology.

Amber Matthews is General Counsel at DLA Piper and is responsible for advising the firm on all its legal matters across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Amber leads the firm's internal Legal, Risk Management and Compliance team. She is a member of the Global Risk Committee and is secretary to the board of DLA Piper International LLP, in which capacity she advises the board on risk and corporate governance issues and compliance with the firm's partnership agreement. Since May 2017, Amber is the Managing Partner of the Sydney office of DLA Piper.
