Description

BCU Poets' Night will feature four outstanding poets from BCU's School of English.

Dr Gregory Leadbetter is Director of the Institute of Creative and Critical Writing at BCU. His poetry collections include The Fetch (Nine Arches Press, 2016) and The Body in the Well (HappenStance Press, 2007). His book on Coleridge’ s poetry, the transnatural, and the dilemmas of creativity, Coleridge and the Daemonic Imagination (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011) won the University English (formerly CCUE) Book Prize 2012.

Professor Patrick McGuinness' main research interests include 19th and 20th century French literature, especially Poetry and Theatre; French and Belgian Symbolism; Belgian Literature in French and Comparative Literature; Anglo-American Modernism and modern poetry in English. He has written three collections of poems, The Canals of Mars, 19th Century Blues, Jilted City, and a novel, The Last Hundred Days, which was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction, and won the Writers’ Guild Prize for Fiction and the Wales Book of the Year.

Dr Derek Littlewood lectures in Modernism, among other things, at BCU. He has published poems in various anthologies, and was long-listed for the National Poetry Competition in 2016.

Anna Lawrence is Lecturer in Creative Writing at BCU. She is primarily a novelist, and her first novel Ruby's Spoon was published with Chatto & Windus in 2010. She increasingly is interested in writing poetry, however, and in 2015 she was placed third in the Wenlock Poetry Festival International Poetry competition.
