Visiting Professor Masterclass Series

Following the success of our first Visiting Professor Masterclass we are proud to announce our second instalment in the series. This series draws on the extensive commercial expertise of our visiting professoriate, each of whom is a prestigious leader in their field. Birmingham City University’s Business School is located in the heart of Birmingham’s commercial district, and our teaching, learning and research are practice based, engaging with the region. The masterclasses are offered as a conduit between the University, the city, and the West Midlands region. Delegates are welcome from any field of industry or business, as well as the public and third sectors. Students and staff from Birmingham City University and other academic institutions are also welcome to attend and benefit from the insight of the speakers. The next masterclass is as follows:

Karl George: Power and Influence in the Boardroom

Thursday 3 May 2018, 6pm - Curzon Boardrooms 502/503

Karl George, Managing Director at the Governance Forum is a thought leader and nationally established consultant in governance, with over twenty years combined experience in accountancy, business, and strategic development. Karl works across the private, public and third sector, in which he specialises in delivering exceptional services in governance. He was the pioneer behind the Governance Assessment Process (GAP), a cross sector standard, endorsed by Sir Adrian Cadbury, previous chair of the Cadbury Committee. His passion to see the standard of governance improve across all sectors and for governance professionals to have a space to network and share best practice, led to him bringing together a number of leading professionals who collectively established the Association of Corporate Governance Practitioners (ACGP). With a growing membership, ACGP is the only professional body for cross sector governance practitioners and offers the opportunity for the sharing of good practice in governance.

Light refreshments and networking opportunities will be available from 6pm, prior to the masterclass which will take place between 6.307.30pm. The event will be hosted in the Curzon Building, in rooms 502/3.

We look forward to seeing you there.
