Event description

Description

Join the Brown Club of the United Kingdom for a viewing of the sold out "Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams" exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum with a special an introductory talk by V&A Senior Curator of Fashion, Sonnet Stanhill (wife of Jeff Orenstein ’89)!

This exhibition, which Sonnet specifically helped to curate for the V&A is based on the major exhibition, Christian Dior: Couturier du Rêve, organised by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris that attracted over 700,000 visitors - the highest number for a single show in the museum’s 112-year history. Like the recent wildly successful Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga exhibitions at the V&A, it has sould out. This version of exhibition includes Princess Margaret’s off-the-shoulder Christian Dior couture gown worn to her 21st birthday party in 1951.

We have secured a total of 50 tickets for a Friday night visit at a slight discount to the regular cost. V&A Members can attend for free - and are welcome to join us! The show is now sold out, so this (and buying a V&A membership) are now the only ways to see the show!

The schedule for the evening is as follows:

18:15 Meet in the Courtyard Entrance, Exhibition Road - Look for the BCUK banner and check in for your ticket.

18:30 Introduction by Sonnet Stanfill, Senior Curator of Fashion at the V&A

18:45 Enter exhibition*

19:45 Gather at Stein’s Berlin Restaurant (51 Exhibition Road) to chat about the exhibit and catch-up on Brown news!

Many thanks to Sonnet for kindly donating her time!

*Note that we have secured 25 tickets for entry at 18:45 and 25 tickets at 19:00.
