Event Overview

Sign up for the most vibrant summer event at the University – the brand new Be Active Games, featuring the annual Colour Fun Run. You have the choice to do one or both parts! Please see the time schedule below.

To celebrate the end of the academic year and mark the start of summer in an active way, you can get involved in a variety of fun, social sports, as well as the Colour Fun Run, an event unlike any other at the University.

Take advantage of the freebies on offer – they will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

· First 50 students to book get a branded t-shirt ready to be covered in colour

· Free ice cream (limited availability)

· Free and unlimited use of large inflatable games

· Free finisher medal to remember your epic day

· Free travel to and from Wide Lane via UniLink (more travel information below)

Be Active Games

Enjoy one or more of the following sports:

Table tennis / Tennis
Pickle ball
Walking football
Netball
Touch rugby

The games are open to everyone, regardless of levels of experience and ability, as an opportunity to get moving and have fun with other students. You can either sign up as a team and bring friends, or join by yourself and we will form the teams for you.

Colour Fun Run

The highlight of the day is the third annual Colour Fun Run. You can run or walk the 3km course at your own pace, and you will be provided with coloured powder to throw en route. The first 50 attendants will receive a white branded T-shirt on arrival, ready to soak up the colours.

· The route consists of grass and gravel paths.

· Each participant will receive a free colour sachet.

What to bring

· If using the UniLink Dayrider bus ticket you must bring clean clothes to change into after the run.

· Bag drop off area and changing rooms are available on-site.

· Water bottle (refill stations are available on-site).

· Sunglasses (to protect your eyes from the colour powder).

· Please do not bring high value items to the event.

Travel information

· All registered participants will receive a free one-day UniLink Dayrider bus ticket to travel to and from Wide Lane Sports Grounds. The ticket can be accessed via the UniLink app the day before the event.

· Participants must have signed up to this event by 12:00 on Tuesday 4 June 2024 to receive the free UniLink bus ticket.

· You must bring a change of clean clothes to be able to use the bus ticket on your return. You will be unable to board the bus if covered in colour.

Important information

· The event is open to University of Southampton students only (valid student ID and University email required).

· Event subject to cancellation due to extreme weather conditions (updates via email on Wednesday 5 June).

· Cancel your space if you can no longer attend to allow others to register.
