Kick the bad holiday habits and be an anti-traveller in 2020 (and beyond).
'Be an Anti-Traveller' is a hands-on workshop for travellers looking to leave basic holidays in 2019 and say hello to immersive travel experiences that don’t wreck the planet. Whether you’ve already booked your trip, or you want to start planning one for the future, it’s for travellers who feel like they want more from their trips, and for those wondering how they can be more eco-friendly while they travel.
Join us for a chilled session where you'll get the 411 on slow travel, before getting down to some practical exercises to help you plan your own intentional trip for 2020. All tickets include a goodie bag (containing a pack of Reset Travel cards worth £14.99, plus your own travel workbook to take away) and teas, coffee and sweet treats on the day too.
What you'll learn in this workshop:
- The harmful impact our ‘basic holidays’ are having
- How to start thinking like a slow traveller for ‘deeper’ travel experiences
- The most carbon-friendly way to travel
- How to travel with intention and plan a trip with purpose
The plan:
12-12.15: Arrival! Make a coffee, grab some snacks and say hello to the rest of the group. (Don’t worry, we’re keeping the group small.)
12.15 - 12.35: Slow travel presentation - get the lowdown on slow travel and why we need to start taking a more conscious approach to our trips
12.35 - 12.50: How bad is flying for the environment? Emma from climate charity Possible will be telling us all we need to know
12.50 - 13.00: Tea/coffee break
13.00 - 14.00: Planning session - take part in some practical exercises designed to get you questioning your travel style and figuring out what you really want from your travels
What is slow travel?
It isn’t just what it says on the tin. Slow travel is the antidote to mass tourism (think typical 'holiday culture'; cheap flights to the same destinations, packaged holidays, visiting as many tourist sights as possible, and a general focus on consumption through shopping and dining). Mass tourism tends to treat travel as a series of transactions whereas slow travel is all about experiences. It's a conscious approach, that allows you to plan for a purposeful trip that truly connects you to your surroundings.
Please note: this is a special discounted price due to it being the first workshop. Prices will be going up for future workshops.
