Course Leader

The course leaders for this course are Uz Afzal and Tan.

I came to the Plum Village tradition when, as a troubled teenager, I picked up a book by Thich Nhat Hanh. His wise and calming words supported me and stayed with me for years and since 2010 I have been attending annual Plum Village retreats and practicing in this tradition. I have been teaching secular mindfulness for the last three years and have trained through Bangor University’s Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and through the Mindfulness in Schools Programme to teach mindfulness to children.

I have been practising mindfulness since 2003 after reading Thich Nhat Hanh's book "The Miracle of Mindfulness". Mindfulness has brought me peace, calm and contentment, including the power to heal from depression. Dedicated to inspiring and supporting others to live life with greater ease, I have been a facilitator in this tradition since 2007. Currently enrolled on a MSc programme in Mindfulness-Based Approaches at Bangor University, I also teach MBSR and MBCT.
