Event description
Free training and resources for five lessons on digital citizenship, media literacy and internet safety delivered by Beatfreeks Consulting.

About this Event

Digital literacy has never been more crucial. Research shows that young people spend more than 44 hours per week in front of screens. With new safety guidelines set to become part of the core learning curriculum, we know teachers like you are feeling the pressure to create learning materials and lesson plans for subjects you may not feel fully confident in.

Thats why Beatfreeks (Consulting Ltd) are delivering Be Internet Citizens, an innovative training and resource programme for educators - powered by Google.org and YouTube.

This training event equips those who work in secondary or further education with the tools to teach young people how to become safe users of the web, and encourage them to be positive voices online.

Be Internet Citizens Train the Teacher explores subjects such as:

  • Fake news
  • Scapegoating
  • Biased writing
  • Echo Chambers

Ultimately, you will be able to support young people to develop critical thinking and media literacy skills.

"This is the ideal resource, we’ll be using this forever. We have 240 girls aged 11 to 16 years whose lives can be changed positively from the programme. This will now be part of set form time lessons for many years to come"

Register for your free place today and join the #BeInternetCitizens movement. As well as training, you will get:

  • A copy of our PSHE accredited resources, comprising five session plans, presentations and supporting materials.
  • Breakfast, lunch and travel reimbursements of up to £20
  • A Continued Professional Development (CPD) day - perfect if you’re concerned about getting the time off
  • Let our expert facilitators guide you through an interactive training day that will deconstruct complex topics in a unique, fun first approach.

Let’s ensure our young people have sufficient education to help them become emotionally mature, critical thinking ‘Internet Citizens’.
