The Borders Railway is breathing new life into the economies of the Scottish Borders, Midlothian and Edinburgh, offering fantastic opportunities for business, investment and employment.

Over the next few years, the Edinburgh city region is expected to see significant economic and population growth, along with rising tourism volumes, a diversifying business base and increased demand for skills. As well as seeing first hand the effect Borders Railway will have on the Scottish Borders and Midlothian, this event will feature speakers including;

• Bob Keiller, Chair of Scottish Enterprise, will provide an overview of the benefits that Borders Railway has brought to the region and the importance of regeneration to the social and economic well-being of the region.
• Ed Monaghan will discuss the commercial development elements of the Shawfair project will open up opportunities for business investors and occupiers, and how important transport connectivity – and especially Borders Railway – is to making a success of such initiatives.
• Lynn Mann will tell the story of SuperNature Oils, including the significance of the railway in helping to establish and grow her business.
• Andy Drane, Partner at Edinburgh-based Legal firm Davidson Chalmers will explain how they are making the most of the Borders Railway and a growing SME client base in the Borders by taking up residents in Galashiels Transport Interchange building.
