Event Details

#besmartaboutart networking is a monthly opportunity to meet artists, curators & other art world peers, view exhibitions and spaces, and expand knowledge - creative and professional alike!

In September 2017, we're heading to the A&D Gallery in Marylebone, to visit ArtCan members’ exhibition, ‘Appearance of…’

ArtCan is a charitable arts organisation that passionately supports artists by giving them the time, financial security, and practical support structures to establish, develop, and maintain their artistic practices. ArtCan provides this support through profile raising activities and exhibitions, as well as an open and collaborative network of ‘like-minded’ peers. This exhibition responds to the images and sensations of the autumnal season - to the ‘equinox, park walks, golden sunsets, reflections and explorations during the last burst of colour’ of the year.It will feature 25-30 members from ArtCan’s international group of artists working in a variety of media.

Attendees to this event will also learn about ArtCan’s exhibition programme, including the ways in which the organisation is working with and for artists.

About the Gallery:

The A&D Gallery is Marylebone's longest established contemporary art gallery, having opened its doors in 2000. The gallery has built a strong reputation based on expertise and customer care. The ethos of the gallery is to help and encourage new artists and new collectors; to this end it offers low cost entry level multiples and prints alongside rare museum-quality original works.

About the Event:

With arrivals starting at 6.30pm, all attendees will be invited to browse the exhibition as well as talk with fellow visitors, including ArtCan’s Director Kate Enters and BSAA's Founder Susan Mumford. Approximately half way through the event, Susan will facilitate a Q+A with Kate, providing insight into the exhibition, ArtCan’s work with artists, and ways to get involved with their programme. This will be followed by a presentation of three new top networking tips, delivered by Be Smart About Art.

Note that arrivals are welcome at any time between 6.30-8.30pm.

Ready to go? Book your place and we'll look forward to seeing you there!

Be Smart About Art

"Art is your life. Make it your living."

Our mission is to help you thrive in a changing art world.

Founded in 2012 by Art World Entrepreneur Susan Mumford, the progam helps you thrive in a changing world.

Based out of London, England, with a developing event program and Membership community in the Tri-State area as well as Central Arkansas (Susan's childhood home), a founding principle is access to information with the employment of technology.

Accordingly, the online-accessible Members Gateway is updated on a weekly basis, which includes opportunities (art prizes, residencies / fellowships, fairs and more), webinars / audio recordings of BSAA events and talks, templates for your art business, and more.

Additionally, digitally-accessible professional development workshops are already available to purchase and download, and more are being made available for the second half of 2017.

For individuals and organisations seeking custom support, the Creative Specialist Advisors provide one-to-one support, with specialism ranging from business planning to artist-to-artist coaching.

Freely accessible information is also available via, noting the many hundreds of blog posts in addition to a selection of videos. Enjoy!
