About this Event
Be The Ripple and Cognitize present Kindfest2020. A virtual celebration and education of workplace kindness.
Kindness is not always seen as a priority in the workplace. Tradtional workplace cultures can often be competitive and performance driven spaces - often focusing on fixing what broken, rather than celebrating the abundance of the great. If the coronacoaster has taught us anything it's that kindness counts in large amounts. When we are present with others and recognise and value people for their contribution we can see the visible difference it makes - as Robert Ingersol said "We rise by lifting others".
Thankfully, now we are increasingly talking about wellbeing in the workplace, and bringing an authentic quality to our work, being gentle with ourselves, and with others around us.
We thought we'd bring the best in class in this field to a virtual space to help you educate, engage and inspire kindness in your workplace.
Host: Scott Leiper
Scott has an established reputation as a designer, faciltator and creator for making often complex strategies & theories simple, memorable and human. He's worked in leadership and management development for over 20 years.
He created the 'Cognitize' cards to power up kindness in learning. To develop ourselves and others. Ensuring that we gift our knowledge to others through the power of conversation.
Host: Joanna Suvarna
Founder of 'Be The Ripple'. The movement was born in May 2020 to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week, which this year had a theme of 'Kindness'.
Her mission is simple: to create a ripple effect of kindness that will operate collaboratively across sectors to pool resources, share ideas, share best practices and develop strategies that are effective and can be shared. Professionals inspiring other professionals and acting as a catalyst for positive change to our working world.
We believe that the first step to overcoming unkindness in workplaces is to open discussions and educate, leading to a more transparent culture and a psychologically safe environment in which individuals can thrive, bringing their best selves to work every day.
The benefits of this to individuals and organisations is huge - imagine an organisation which harnesses its people and their energy to drive positive change and tap into creativity, diverse thought and innovation. Imagine a more hopeful future.

Joanna's Charity Choice: Bullies Out

Scott's Charity Choice: Pancreatic Cancer Scotland
Smaller charities have had a enormous hit in fund raising during this pandemic. One example of this is author, motivational speaker and all round super kind dude Gavin Oattes not being able to run the London Marathon to raise fund in honour of his late father, who he lost to the disease. This guy has provided so much positivity and energy to help facilitate a positive and healthy view of life to both kids and adults alike.
The charity is committed to raising awareness, improving education, healthcare and research and supporting patients and families in Scotland affected by pancreatic cancer and associated tumours.
