'Be Wellbeing Aware'- an introduction to mental health & wellbeing

This course has been funded by Southampton Council (public health) with the aim to support workforces who engage with adults at higher risk of mental health, working in the public/voluntary sector, in portsmouth or Southampton.
What to expect?
This 2 hr online session will equip staff with an understanding and the confidence to talk about mental health with colleagues and members of the public/service users.
The session will be delivered over zoom by one of Havant and East Hants mind training team.
Areas covered will include:
PART 1 (1 hour):
Session 1 aims to provide learners with foundational knowledge and insights into mental health and wellbeing. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their learning and start applying it in their day-to-day roles, fostering experiential learning.
· Welcome, introductions and group agreement (including caution to delegates around sensitive topics)
· What is mental health and wellbeing – using the mental health continuum
· Stigma surrounding mental health – barriers & mental health inequalities
· How can we reduce stigma & stigmatising language
· Common mental health conditions
· Signs of when someone may be struggling
· When the signs maybe more worrying: Suicide prevention – what we can do?
Part 2 -(1 hour):
The focus of this section shifts to having a supportive conversation with person who may struggling with the issues highlighted in part one.
· How to have a supportive conversation
· Local signposting, to include online apps and support
· Case studies – what steps would we take?
· Tools and tips to use in the moment
· Self-care - Maintenance of your own wellbeing
· Q&A
Once enrolled on the course you will recieve a confirmation email via eventbrite and 3 days before the course start date you will be sent a reminder email and text with the link to join on the day.
Post Course info:
Following the course you will be asked ot provide feedback on the training and once completed you will then be sent access to a resource webbpage with take away infomration and signposting to refer to.

You will be required to access zoom to join the session, we advise making sure this is uploaded on your computer or on your mobile phone. If you have issues on the day - we do provide a trouble shooting number to call.
Three days before the session starts you will receive an mail with joining instructions. Make sure to check your junk/spam folder if you have not received this.
The session has been funded for those working in Southampton and Portsmouth, within voluntary/public sector.
We ask that if this is the case you log back into eventbrite and cancel your space allowing someone else to take your place. If it is the day of the session, then please reply to the email address to which sent you the course log in info.
Yes they are - so you only need to book on one session.
Yes you will, the trainer will allow for questions throughout and at the end of the session.
Absolutely not - this session will provide you with information around mental health to support you in your role.
Yes please do, this session will be useful as a refresher and you may be able to take something new away from the information provided.
You will be asked to complete a very short survey on the session whilst still on the zoom session. Once left the session we will send you a follow up email with session recap and signposting details.
