Description

As part of Victims Rights Awareness week, Beacon has teamed up with Oaklands College Media Department to deliver a dynamic programme of free filmmaking and victim awareness workshops.

In addition to the workshops there are several film screenings, showing the best of this years international films that have been submitted and an awards ceremony showcasing films from Oaklands College film students. All films have been created and submitted to raise awareness of Beacon - Hertfordshire's Victim Care Centre and the impacts of crime on victims. See below for the full itinery and make sure to yourself book yourself a free place on any of the events!

All events are free of charge and open to anyone apart from the film screenings which are 15 or over.




Film Screenings

Wednesday 7th February

International Film Screenings 1 - 15:30 - 16:30

The first of the film screenings showing a selection of the finalists from the international category.

Thursday 8th February

International Film Screenings 2 - 15:30 - 16:30

The second of our film screenings showing a selection of the finalists from the international category.

Friday 9th February

Beacon Award Ceremony and Student Films - 19:30 - 21:30

The final awards ceremony and screening of the student films from Oaklands College. Meet and greet with drinks at 19:00 followed by some live music and more drinks following the ceremony.




Workshops

Wednesday 7th February

12.00 - 12.45 - Filmmaking Workshop

Take part in the recreation of an iconic Hollywood scene from The Matrix, using industry standard film and video equipment.

13:15 - 13:45 - Impacts of Crime

An eye opening workshop that highlights the impacts crime has on its victims.

14:15 - 15:00 - Green Screen Workshop

Industry experienced practitioners Kieran Griffin and Caleb Thompson deliver a talk and interactive workshop on the use of green screen in cinema.

15:30 - 16:00 - Modern Slavery

DS Duncan Montague from Hertfordshire constabulary’s dedicated Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery team is presenting an awareness raising workshop on the realities of modern slavery.

Thursday 8th February

12.00 - 12.45 - Filmmaking Workshop

13:15 - 13:45 - Cyberstalking Workshop

Learn about Cyberstalking with Dr Emma Short in this exciting workshop presented by the National Centre for Cyberstalking Research.

14:15 - 15:00 - Green Screen Workshop

14:15 - 15:00 - Photography Workshop

An introductory workshop into portrait photography as well as studio lighting. Learn some of the main camera techniques and give it a go yourself.
