Beaded Cactus Workshop with Lesley Belton
Overview
Join guest Tutor Lesley Belton for a Beaded Cactus Workshop. Lesley returns to the Bead Shop, to teach another of her brilliant beaded flowers. Lesley has a wealth of knowledge when it come to beaded florals and plants of all kinds. In this workshop you’ll learn how to make a cactus in the style of a Parodia cactus (though much less spiky) with a floral embellishment. You’ll get to grips with how to thread beads and create the petals using the popular basic frame, French beading technique. You’ll also learn how to assemble your cactus.
All the beads, wire and polystyrene cactus base will be provided, the pots will not. They work well in small plant pots or candle holders, you’ll discuss options in the class of how to display your cactus in the workshop, but if you have a pot you’d like to use you’re welcome to bring it along. The finished measurements of the beaded cactus are approximately 6.5 cm wide and 8cm high (including the flower) to give you an idea of scale.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those wanting to try a new techniques. It’s a great way of learning this skill and creating something fun and decorative, perfect for anyone who struggled to keep house plants alive as well as making a lovely gift.
