Overview

Orange Beak Studio presents an online talk and Q&A with author and illustrator Rhian Stone

Join us for an evening with self taught illustrator Rhian Stone.

Rhian is based in the UK. She works mainly with dry media, using mostly pencils and pastels as she says these feel more natural for her and her work.

In 2025, Rhian was shortlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize and longlisted for the Carnegie Medal for Illustration for the beautiful Grandad’s Star, written by Frances Tosdevin.

Rhian’s illustrations draw on images from magic, folklore and myth, with ideas often inspired by nature and the weird and wonderful. Rhian has described her style as ‘capturing the small moments in life with wobbly lines and fuzzy textures’. When she isn’t working Rhian can often be found reading in a coffee shop or scribbling away at her next idea.

We look forward to hearing about Rhian’s work creating beautiful picture books, her journey and process through illustration and what inspires her work. Following the talk there will be an audience Q&A opportunity.

The event will be held online via ZOOM - the link will be sent to you directly via email on the day of the talk around 5pm UK time.

All tickets are £16 INCLUSIVE of the booking fee - and are non-refundable.

The event is LIVE - but buying a ticket will give you access to a recording which will be available to view back for one week afterwards. You will be sent a link for this the day after the event.
