The aim of this course is to give an introduction to beavers and surveys methods in a workshop presentation format.
The morning of this workshop will be spent exploring the world of European beavers in the UK. You will learn about beaver ecology, their field signs, how to survey them and how to get involved in the Kent Beaver Citizen Science Programme.
After lunch, there will be an outdoor beaver survey training to practise the skills you have learnt in the morning.
By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:
- Identify beavers from other British mammals
- Understand beaver ecology
- Find and identify beaver field signs
- Understand beaver survey methods
- Record beaver field surveys
Participants will be able to join the Kent Beaver Citizen Science Programme. These workshops are run in collaboration with the beaver trust.
What to bring:
- Suitable clothes and wellies or footwear for outdoor walking (depending on the season).
- Drinks and a packed lunch.
- Note book and pens. Learning materials will be provided.
