A Beaver's Tale: Beavers around Batheaston
An evening in celebration of beavers.
- Doors open 6.30pm (Come early for drinks, book sales & information stands)
- Event begins 7.30pm
To celebrate the return of beavers to the River Avon, Grow Batheaston presents an evening of talks and films by wildlife experts and passionate supporters of these elusive animals. Hunted almost to extinction by the 16th century, their return in recent years has had an extraordinarily positive impact on the ecosystem of our waterways and other species. This evening will help tell the story of the connectivity with and the dependence between the River Avon, the willow trees that stand guard beside it and the beavers, newly returned to a waterway they would have inhabited centuries ago.
Find out more from beaver experts Bevis Watts, author of River Journey: Searching for Wild Beavers and Finding Freedom, Emma Fennell Hodson from Avon Wildlife Trust, Emily Bowen from the Beaver Trust, Dr Eva Perrin from Surfers against Sewage and watch the extraordinary films of beavers by award-winning wildlife filmmaker Aleksander Domanski.
