Become a carer or mentor for refugee children and young people
Date and time
Description
Please note if you intend to come to this event you will need to register on the Ticket link. Due to the popularity of this event you may be refused entry without a ticket due to venue capacity.
As a City of Sanctuary, Bristol City Council welcomes unaccompanied children and young people who are seeking asylum here. Many of the children have lost their families and have already lived through some very traumatic experiences. We need people in Bristol who can open their homes, their hearts and offer time to children and young people like this. Children and young people will need safe, caring and supportive families to help them to recover from trauma, to help them integrate, and to access education, healthcare and life opportunities.
This evening will run through the caring options there are :1) becoming a foster carer if you have a spare room, 2)a supported lodging carer for 16-18 years olds if you have a spare room or 3)becoming a mentor for children and young people if you have the time but not the space.
You will hear from a variety of people experienced in this area including current carers and those working with unaccompanied asylum seeking minors.
There will be a chance at the end of the evening to talk individually to our staff and sign up to start your journey!
