Event description

Description

What is Laughter therapy?

The elation you feel when you laugh is a great way of combating the physical effects of stress. When we laugh, our body relaxes and endorphins (natural painkillers) are released into the blood stream.

A laughter therapist's aim is to help you laugh more easily. Therapy is available in group or individual sessions - this starts with a warm-up followed by a range of activities designed to get you giggling. Laughter doesn't come easily to everyone, but luckily the body can't actually distinguish between real and fake laughter. So faking it has the same beneficial effect.

Staff who wish to learn how to teach laughter therapy can book themselves on a 90 minute training session. The aim is to teach colleagues so they are equipped to deliver sessions to their team members to help lift staff morale. This staff well-being initiative may lead to enhanced patient care and greater overall happiness levels!

We have 10 places available on the following two dates and times:

  • Wednesday 2 May 2018, 12.30pm-2pm

  • Friday 1 June 2018, 8am-9.30am
