Description

#BeComeTalks: Identity and displacement of the African Diaspora

Is identity skin deep? If you're living outside of the country of your culture, act differently in some situations or around some people to fit in, or go 'home' and feel alien because you now think differently or lost your mother tongue, you may have something to input into this open discussion.

It's research for an immersive afro dance theatre show being developed by André Bright, as an opportunity to talk about identity and displacement.

There are 6 dates with each one being 6:30pm on a Wednesday, covering different parts of the topic, so one person could attend all 6:

Location:
Greenwich Dance, Borough Hall, Royal Hill, London, SE10 8RE

Dates:
6:30pm, Wed 21 Feb - THE EXPERIENCE - What do we feel/see/experience? What are the effects?
6:30pm, Wed 07 Mar - THE JOURNEY - What has lead to the cultural fragmentation?
6:30pm, Wed 14 Mar - THE OTHER SIDE - What's the perspective of white British and native afro/carribean?
6:30pm, Wed 21 Mar - THE DISPLACED - Where do we stand? How does it affect us and those around us?
6:30pm, Wed 28 Mar - THE ACTION - What can we do? What is being done? What is the impact?
6:30pm, Wed 18 Apr - THE FUTURE - What does it look like? Globally? Individually?

Limited spaces (15) in each talk, designed as a safe space to begin sharing experiences, ask questions, develop solutions, and network. Agendas TBC
