ACT Counselling Services are pleased to be undertaking another delivery of ‘Becoming a Supervisor.’ This course is designed to introduce Therapists to the way of being and skills necessary to practice individual and Group Supervision in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
This course will provide participants with a solid introduction to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to be an effective Clinical Supervisor. Participants will be provided with a detailed and practical Supervisors pack to utilise in practice.
Will this course equip me to work as a Clinical Supervisor?
The requirements to act as a Clinical Supervisor are vague with Counselling and Psychotherapy being an unregulated profession.
Different professional bodies have different stipulations with some stating that Supervision CPD is sufficient, and others stating there should be a 'recognised qualification.' With this in mind, the supervision course easily meets with CPD requirements to become a clinical supervisor.
The course is currently undergoing validation by COSCA and will therefore be, 'recognised'.
The course will be delivered over 3 lots of 2 consecutive days. It will run on a Friday - Saturday from 9.30am – 4.30pm on 14-15, 21-22, 28-29 April 2017.
On completion of day 6 each student will be furnished with a Certificate of attendance upon which 18 hours theory and 18 hours skills will be listed. Participants may then count these hours towards CPD or Accreditation purposes.
Trainer: The course was written and is delivered by Andy Gray. Participants will find Andy to be fun, knowledgeable, approachable and highly experienced in the practice of all main therapeutic modalities.
Furthermore, Andy is a Trans-theoretical Supervisor, meaning that his own Supervision Training enables him to view and respond to a particular supervision issue through most therapeutic perspectives or models of Supervision.Andy is a BABCP Accredited CB Psychotherapist / BABCP Accredited Clinical Supervisor/ BABCP Accredited Trainer / COSCA Accredited Diploma Level Trainer / Person Centred Therapist and Practices Schema Therapy and DBT. He is passionate about working with severe trauma and personality disorders.
Andy has worked in local authority settings, NHS Settings, Private Low secure/locked rehab settings and is Shareholder and Academic Director at ACT Counselling Services, Glasgow (actcounsellingandcbtservices.co.uk).
