About this event
Teaching Assistants, also known as Learning Support or Classroom Assistants, work in educational settings including primary schools, secondary schools and colleges of further education. They provide a vital role in supporting learners and assisting teachers, and work with children, and in some cases, adults giving one-to-one support as well as working in group situations. In this webinar, we will cover:
- Who employs Teaching Assistants
- Entry qualifications needed
- The background checks needed to work with children and vulnerable adults
- Personal qualities required
- Training and qualifications involved in becoming a Teaching Assistant
- How to get work experience if this is something you have never done before
- Where to look for job vacancies
- On line learning courses that can enhance prospects e.g. autism awareness, awareness of particular learning difficulties and dealing with challenging behaviour in children and young people
This webinar will be of particular interest to those who are looking for employment that fits with childcare commitments, and who take an active interest in child learning & development.
