Event description

Description

If you are new to Trusteeship, or would like to refresh your understanding then do please join us for this short session.

Becoming a Trustee provides a great opportunity to use your skills and experience to support our heritage and our local communities. Trustees have an important role in providing strategic guidance and direction as well as ensuring financial and organisational resilience in challenging times.

At the same time, Trustees have to work in an increasingly regulated sector and funding organisations place a high priority on effective charity governance.

The session will:

  • Define what makes an effective trustee
  • Set out Charity Commission guidance on the role of Trustees
  • Discuss the relationships between Trustees, volunteers and staff
  • Summarise key legislation that Trustees need to be aware of

The afternoon will be led by Sam Hunt, ex-Director of the Association of Independent Museums.

The SHARE team will also be at this event so we look forward to meeting you then.

Please arrive from 1.30pm for a 1.45pm start

If you have an further questions, you may find them answered on our FAQs page.
