Becoming an Eye Hero - Workshop 2
Event Information
About this Event
You brush your teeth every day to take care of them, but what do you do for your eyes?
The number of people affected by sight loss is rising – but around 50% of cases can be prevented, if detected early enough.
Our free interactive workshops train children to become eye health champions and inform people about the importance of regular eye tests in preventing sight loss. Children can participate in these live events from home.
The Eye Heroes programme:
- shares essential information about eye care
- boosts child confidence
- includes games, videos, role play and more
- is suitable for children aged 8–12 years old
- comprises two separate workshops (1 and 2)
- is run by trained volunteers in a fun and memorable way.
Children return for workshop 2 at least four weeks after workshop 1.
In workshop 2, participants:
- report back (confidentially) on how many people they told about Eye Heroes
- learn some basic data collection skills
- see the combined impact of their efforts.
Full details of the workshop will be sent in the sign-up confirmation.
At the end of this workshop, children will receive a certificate of attendance to show they are now Eye Heroes!
Please note that we may use images or video clips of workshops for volunteer training purposes, and marketing or other publicity for Eye Heroes. Please contact us if you do not give permission for images of your child to be used.
