About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Welcome to Becoming Mama, a womens circle celebrating, exploring and honouring the rite of passage from maiden to mother. This circle is hosted by Chloe Thornton, a passionate and experienced preconception, birth, and postpartum mentor, hypnobirthing practitioner, and midwife.

Becoming Mama is a 90-minute gathering for women navigating the beautiful journey into motherhood. In the heart of central Brighton, in a cozy and calming atmosphere we will create the space to explore all of the emotional, spiritual and enegetic shifts that accompany this monumental season on your life.

This intimate circle is crafted for mothers-to-be, new mums, and those feeling the pull of motherhood. We'll come together to develop our sense of community and foster a deep sense of connection with your intuition, innate strength, and wisdom.

Through guided discussions, mindfulness practices, and shared experiences, you'll find support, empowerment, and understanding. We'll address the challenges and joys of matrescence, creating a space where you can openly express your thoughts and emotions and be seen and held in your transformation.

Whether you're desiring an empowered birthing experience, navigating the nuances of postpartum or seeking a community of big-hearted women who will stand alongside you as you move into this new season of your life, Becoming Mama is the space for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is matrescence?

Matrescence is the profound transformation a woman undergoes as she becomes a mother. It's a journey marked by physical, emotional, and spiritual changes, akin to adolescence but focused on the transition into parenthood.

Who is this Circle for?

Becoming Mama is for women at various stages of the motherhood journey— whether you're on the cusp of parenthood, navigating pregnancy, or embracing postpartum. It's a welcoming space for those feeling the pull towards motherhood, mothers-to-be & new mums.

Do I need to be a certain age or in a specific stage of motherhood to attend?

No age or specific stage required! Becoming Mama welcomes women at any motherhood phase—preconception, pregnancy, or postpartum. It's an inclusive space for shared experiences, support, and empowerment on the unique journey into motherhood.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately the venue is on the 3rd floor and there isn’t a lift in the building. This means that the venue is not wheelchair accessible and those who wish to attend must be able to ambulate up the stairs.

Are men welcome to attend or participate in any way?

While the Becoming Mama Circle is designed for women, the support of partners is valued. However, the circle's focus is on the female journey into motherhood. If you would like support for you and your birth partner, feel free to contact me via my website to explore the options for support and prep

What can I expect during the 90-minute gathering

Expect a nurturing space for self-exploration and connection. We'll dive into holistic approaches for preconception, birth, and postpartum, blending guided discussions, mindfulness practices, and shared experiences. It's an opportunity to openly express thoughts and emotions.

Can I bring my child to the Becoming Mama Circle?

Becoming Mama is a space focused on your journey into and through motherhood. While this event is best experienced without older children, non-mobile babies are warmly welcome. We aim to make it a supportive and inclusive space for all mothers.

Is there parking nearby?

Circles are held in my home on the waterfront, in central Brighton and unfortunately parking is less than ideal. However, it is less than 5mins from the bus routes that leave from central Brighton and a 15min walk from the Brighton Train Station.
