Becoming Self Employed - What are the practicalities of what you need to know & do

This is a workshop that will give you the practical information on how to set up being self employed.

Who is this workshop for?

People that have decided to become self employed but have never done this before or for someone new to being self employed in the UK

What will we cover?

•       Hopes & fears

•       how to register as self employed

•       Simple Book keeping – what records do you need to keep?

•       how does this affect benefits if you are on these?

•       understanding taxation

•       legalities relating to trading activities

•       Taking money from customers, invoicing, POS, tills, money

How many will be in the workshop?

I have had great feedback from people telling me how useful it has been and that they like the group size to be small, as it allows for more personal questioning. I therefore have restricted the number af attendees and run these with a group of between 2-6 people.

Who is running this workshop?

My name is Emma Torrance and I co-run THiNK . I am a SFEDI qualified Business Adviser with over 9 years experience providing business advice to freelancers, small businesses and social enterprises including The Big House, Nottingham Trent University. I ran ThiNK in NG meeting room in Nottingham city centre, offering business advice, workshops & room hire, a cafe and gallery for 4 years, and now provide online workshops and advice. So I’m bang up to date with the challenges of running a small business today!

This will be a remote workshop via zoom. Zoom is very simple to use, and you can use the free version if you do not currently use it.
