A virtual event where notable guest speakers will share research and ideas on enhancing LGBT themes within and beyond RH(S)E.

About this Event

About

This virtual event offers an opportunity for notable guest speakers to share research, resources, ideas, recommendations and for audience members to offer further insights and ask questions with the aim of enhancing LGBT themes (within and beyond RH(S)E).

All are very welcome to join. It is anticipated parents/carers/extended family members of primary school aged children, primary teachers/governors/staff/educators and students on QTS, PGCE, teaching related/youth/social justice related courses may be particularly interested to join.

This is an online event and instructions of how to join will be sent to registered individuals 24 hours before the event.

Contributors

Alex Baird (Round Table Host)

Alex is the secretary of the LGBTQ Alliance Staff Group at the University of Bedfordshire. Alex’s current research explores Gender and Sexualities within and beyond Relationships, Health (and Sex) Education (RH(S)E) in Primary Schools.

Dr Joanne Hill (Round Table Host)

Joanne’s research is in socio-cultural issues in sport and physical education which includes the teaching and learning of social justice issues on physical education and sport degree programmes.

Daniel Tomlinson-Gray

Co-Founder and Director of LGBTed. Daniel has taught English and Media Studies for 12 years in secondary schools. He is the designer of the Proud Leadership and LGBTed Leadership programmes and has just finished editing the first LGBTed book ‘Big Gay Adventures in Education’.

Shaun Dellenty

Multi-award-winning teacher, LGBT+ inclusion speaker/advocate/writer, named one of the 100 most influential LGBT+ people in the UK. Honoured at the National Diversity Awards at the UK Prime Minister. His first book ‘Celebrating Difference – A Whole School Approach to LGBT+ inclusion’.

Charlotte Feather

Guest Speaker from the University of Sunderland, qualified primary teacher, Sunderland’s Students’ Union LGBTQ+ Officer and Creator of 'LGBTQ+ Primary Hub'.

Graham Andre

From the BBC2 documentary, 'No more boys and girls', co-founder of GEC and co-writer of 'The Equal Classroom’.

Andrew Moffatt MBE

Global Teacher Prize nominee, member of 'No Outsiders' programme and author of several books.

Amanda Jamil

Foundation Curriculum Leader and Year 6 teacher.

Kerri Loizou

PSHE Lead and Year 4 teacher.

David Williams

Senior Tutor in Business and Chair of LGBTQ Alliance Staff Group at the University of Bedfordshire.
