How do I get involved?

Register your contact details here on Eventbrite the first time you plan to join a volunteer session or email volunteer@yourpark.org.uk. You won't need to fill in this form every time you want to volunteer once registered.

Question 2

What will I be doing?

Bee Active volunteers will be actively managing areas in parks for wildlife and helping improve accessibility. Tasks will vary from park to park and season. Expect plenty of  pollinator-friendly habitat creation and gardening tasks, planting trees, wildflowers and bulbs, making wildlife features

What do I need to bring?

If you have your own gloves please bring them. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little grubby and sturdy footwear. Dress for the conditions, wear a hat and sunscreen in Summer, warm layers and waterproofs when its colder

Can I talk to someone about my needs

We aim to be inclusive and make everyone feel welcome. We normally have a telephone chat with people who sign up before they meet up in a park so that we understand your circumstances and can make every effort to help you attend and enjoy your volunteering

Question 5

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

Well-behaved dogs are welcome as long as you are responsible for their conduct at all times when working in a public park where other volunteers and other park users will be present

Question 6

Do I need to have experience of wildlife conservation or gardening?

Accepted Answer

No experience is required as we will provide step by step support and guidance for practical activities. We're always keen to attract people who like being outdoors, like being active and who have an interest in their local environment. Keen gardeners and wildlife boffins are welcome!

How will I benefit from volunteering?

Accepted Answer

By helping with practical changes, you will be making a real difference to Bath's parks for people, wildlife and the planet. You'll be out in the fresh air, meeting new people and helping to create new wildflower meadows, plant trees, create ponds and establish much-needed habitats for pollinators.

Question 8

How often do you meet?

Accepted Answer

Currently we're running a weekly session on Thursday mornings between 10 and 1, with a break for refreshments. Sessions take place in different parks over the year, depending on the type of activity such as tree planting in winter, meadow-management in  Summer.

Question 9

What if the weather is rubbish?

Accepted Answer

We will be there at the venue whatever the weather but will adjust activities to meet conditions and safe working practices. Where there is shelter we can organise alternative tasks such as making habitats for pollinators, bee hotels, bird feeders. There will always be something to do!
