Do I need to have experience of being a volunteer?

Accepted Answer

No experience is necessary. We welcome people from all walks of life who are looking to make a difference, give something back, or wanting to take action to address the climate emergency. Your Park staff are on hand to explain how what we do benefits wildlife and people. Come for a taster session!

Question 2

What will I gain from becoming a Bee Active Volunteer?

Accepted Answer

People who volunteer with Your Park say that they benefit from having a sense of purpose and personal satisfaction with what they achieve each week.  Skills include habitat creation and management, use of hand tools,  rural crafts, manual handling and gardening, team work and problem solving.

Question 3

What do I need to wear?

Accepted Answer

We encourage volunteers to wear sturdy footwear and clothes that they do not mind getting a little grubby. Warm layers can help keep you warm. A waterproof is useful if the weather looks like rain. We provide gloves.

Question 4

What do I need to bring?

Accepted Answer

All tools are provided. We also offer refreshments during each session and aim to cater for special dietary requirements. Please let us know beforehand if you have specific dietary needs such as dairy-free, gluten-free etc.

Question 5

Can I  come along to a taster session?

Accepted Answer

New volunteers are encouraged to visit during a Thursday Bee Active session  for a 'taster' alongside our regular volunteers. We will make sure that you feel welcome and are guided through the activity. New attendees have an opportunity to get hands-on, meet other members and see how the group runs.

Can I bring my dog?

We allow Assistance Dogs.
