Event description
Join us to identify bees and hornets which live in the UK

About this Event

There are 50 species of bee in the UK including 25 species of bumble bee, 224 species of solitary bee and 1 honey bee species. Our picture is of the British black bee courtesy of www.omelet.co.uk.

But there is only one native hornet, although there are other insects which imitate hornets. In recent years there have been incursions of the Asian Hornet, much written about in the press, which poses a threat as a non-native species. This talk will aim to help identify a few of the major bees and hornets which may be found in the UK. Plus we shall look at some of their foraging habits.

All are welcome to join this get together. This will be a virtual presentation so we do require you to register to share the zoom login details near the time. Registration for this event will be opened on 14 April 2021
